Corner of shame - revisited

Well well, what do we have here. A clean and organized wall. I have to say I am much more relaxed in the morning when I wake up and see this. Much more than I was before. And I hung up the art. Those are cross stitch works my Mom did when we were young, they are of barns. They are extremely well done and she had them professionally framed. Earlier this year in a fit of frustration I almost gave them away (to a cousin, I am not heartless). I mentioned this to my Mom and she looked so upset. The idea that her hard work would leave the protection of our immediate family, where it could be mistaken as worthless. She didn't say these words, but I read them on her face. I changed my mind. I knew I had to find a place to hang them. And I have. And I feel glad.

The pocket watch is a family heirloom from Kevin's side of the family. I dusted it off and made room for it. Even the dresser has a history. It is from a set that my parents bought when we were young. My mother still uses 4 of the pieces. Kevin uses this one and D has a short dresser, the one I had when I was a child. Although D's is at the end of its life. That's what happens when you are used by multiple children, you wear quicker. Hmmm I wonder if that applies to parents as well....

How nice! You've inpsired me to finally tackle my Closet of Shame. Now will you just give me the energy?

Kristi, I suggest taking a photo and posting it on your blog. It is terrific motivation. I will probably do this again (as embarrassing as it may be) just to keep me going.

That corner looks great -- I love the cross stitches. They were definitely worth keeping!

...and now you can hide further clutter in the drawers! Always thinking.

Great job! I know the peace you feel when you see something nice and clean. Clutter doesn't just clutter the corner it clutters you too (says the woman who just cleaned up her sewing room because she couldn't function in the clutter any more).

Dad still has all of the ones Mom made and I've told him he as to give them to me if he ever decides to redecorate. Wonder if they took a class together Mom's are really good too.

Thanks for dropping by Recipes from the Cookie Jar. I'm so happy you enjoyed the Butter Chicken recipe! It is one of my favorites too-in fact, I'm making it next week. :)

It's great that you kept the family things. They're only things but there's so much meaning there.

A little clutter free goes a long way to keeping me calm. You too?

Chantal!!!! I can't believe you lived with that clutter! egad. :)

But, good for you for tackling it. It must have seemed insurmountable. I think I would have loved to help you declutter...would have been good for a laugh. Your dialogue is, as always, hilarious.
