Bowling fun

Last Sunday my family attended a bowling fundraiser for the Children's Cardiomyopathy Foundation. A friend from our hometown organized this event. Her 1 year old son almost died when he went into heart failure at 9 days old. He was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy and with the help of medication his condition is now stable. Many experts did not expect him to see his 1st birthday.

Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle. I got this little blurb from the web site "CCF is dedicated to accelerating the search for cures while improving diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life for children affected by cardiomyopathy. CCF actively works with federal agencies, medical societies, voluntary health organizations, and hospitals nationwide to increase awareness, accelerate research, and advance education on pediatric cardiomyopathy. The hope is that one day every affected child can be cured to live a full and active life."

The event was an absolute blast. The kids loved the bowling. They kicked our butts at bowling.
Ignore the last column (M was jabbing at the touch screen and managed to give himself a handicap...) D is the first line, 140, M is the second, 126, I am the 3rd with 103 and Kev scored 104. And you know what, KEVIN AND I WERE TRYING!!! I swear!!! They kicked our butts. In the second game M lost interest so I let Kevin and D duke it our for bowling supremacy. I didn't get a photo but D's final score was 154 and Kevin's was 150. I think D might have a future in bowling. Is there a future in bowling?

There was a woman painting kids faces. She was amazing. D wanted a bat and she came up with this on the fly.M was a tiger. After his face was painted he refused to talk. He only growled and chased people.
This woman had never done face painting before and she said she studied it be searching it out on the net.

I have been thinking about having someone come and do balloon animals for M's Birthday party. Now I think I will google/youtube it and see if I can teach myself! I will let you know how it goes.

By the way, thanks so so much for all the supportive comments regarding my job hunting. I know I was fishing for them big time but I truly appreciate every one!

Edited to add: We were 5 pin bowling (with the small balls - get your minds out of the gutter!).

I love bowling, but I totally suck at it. The last time I bowled, I swear I got a score of 48 in one of the rounds.

About the balloon animals, whenever I go to the bookstore I see instructional books about making them yourself.

That face painting is amazing. That woman should seriously start her own birthday party business. I'd hire her!

In the meantime I'm going to see if I can get trained by the internet to be a fabulous artist. Seems plausible. Not!

Future in bowling, ha! Good one. (However, who knows. I grew up watching Saturday morning bowling but then you probably did too as there WAS NOTHING ON!)

bowling - fun though.
