you know your getting up there when...

I was listening to a local radio station. They were interviewing woman who worked for a local recruiting company about how to "recession proof your job". At the end of the interview they must have had a few seconds to kill cause they decided to ask the woman one last question. And the only good question the brillers radio host could come up with was "What was your first computer?". Her answer was "Oh, it was a 486". The host was pretty stumped. You could tell she was totally going for the "Commodore 64" answer. Instead of just dropping the line of questioning she persisted and asked "Did you like, play Pong on it?" LOL. The interviewee responded "Well it was Windows..." I laughed out loud and then totally screamed at my radio. YOUR FIRST COMPUTER WAS A 486!?!?!?!

My Dad had an old beast, but I do not remember what it was :)

Hee. Maybe she was just late getting into the computer game.

...I don't even remotely understand this. And I am relatively young (or at least I think I am). Is that why?

Oy vey, Misty, you do make me feel ancient! Our family had a TI 99 and then when I was in high school I got an IBM XT. And if you've even heard of those models, I'll know you're old like me!

Awesome meeting you last night, Chantal -- we will definitely have to check out that swanky new Starbucks near us!

LOL, we didn't even have a Commodore 64. I think my first computer was a 486 too, but it was an ATI brand ;).

So, I feel terrible I missed you last night, I thought for sure I would recognize you in the theatre. But, I didn't. My Sister and I arrived around 6:45 as she was working and got home a bit late due to traffic. We will have to make another chance to meet again.

I don't get the 486 but I did spend many days at my sister's sweating it out over her Pong!

My best Old School computer references always have to do with the Vax Lab. Did every other college have one of those, too?

Hahahaha! Too funny. I'd feel old too, but our first computer was a 486 too. Or a 386. I can't remember.

Weren't they all something-86 in the old days? I don't even remember. I didn't even use a computer in university, folks. I was all-typewriter-all-the-time.

So there.

Dumb questions lead to dumb answers.

I don't think I could have answered that question, by the way. I have no idea what my first computer was. I barely know what it is now (except it's silver and shiny). :)

The sad thing is I think I'm still working on my first computer.

Sadly, I know that conversation all too well! I even remember the old TRS-80's before those 486 boat anchors! :O
