Childrens book giveaway

Let me introduce you to one of my best friends, Danielle Lalonde. Danielle and I met in 7th grade when fate placed us in the same middle school class. Our friendship has grown stronger over the years as we have faced many joys and tragedies. As young adults we spent two months together in Brazil on a cultural exchange and we were roommates while Danielle completed her ECE here in Ottawa. Danielle has worn many hats in the last few years, including stay at home mom, personal trainer and ECE in a licensed daycare. Currently she is a Parenting Educator in an Ontario Early Years Centre.

Not only is she beautiful and smart, she is also a published writer of a children's book! The book is called "Dr. Prunella DeGoog: Kid Problemologist - Anaphylaxis"

In Danielle's own words "This is a book for children with life threatening allergies, that will help kids think for themselves. Anaphylactic allergies can be scary, but this fun story will help children manage their fears. Empowering and humorous, this book is a must have for loved ones or students facing this challenging but manageable condition"

I am giving away a signed copy of this book to one lucky reader.

Leave a comment on this post by midnight March 7th. One comment per person. Please leave your e-mail address so I can reach you if you win.

This giveaway is open to readers in Canada and the US only.

If you are interested in buying a copy of the book please visit Danielle's web site: Turnip Truck Press and you can order directly from there.

I am so proud of you Danielle! You are an inspiration to me.

Good luck all!

What a brilliant idea for a book! I've grown up with such an allergy, and would love to help my son understand it, and he does not have such an allergy, but his cousin does.

What a wonderful idea for a book. This would be great timing for us as our identical twin girls that have a peanut allergy are starting to ask why they can't have things other kids can. It is hard to know how to explain something like this without frightening them. Thanks for bringing my attention to this book! jen@betterbabybums.com

I'd love a copy as well, as my son has food allergies. Awesome job, Danielle!

I think this would be a great Read Aloud in our Primary classes. It is important for all students to understand the dangers, and precautions necessary for students with food allergies. The narrative allows students to make meaningful connections to their classmates. Wow, Danielle.

I like that you can have a great friend who is sooo accomplished, but you're not intimidated; you just love her!

I'm a collector of autographed Canadian books -- this would make a lovely addition. Plus, I'm partial to writers named Danielle on principal! ;)

May I just say that although I don't want the book (since I wrote it)....That you are the best kind of female friend a chick can have. Always supportive and happy for my successes but also there for me when things are not so rosy. Such a rare a gem, you are!

I have a son with life-threatening peanut allergy and this would be great for him! He's six so he's old enough to get that he can't have what other kids can, but it still makes him sad. Glad your friend wrote such a book - it will help lots of kids!

My email addy can be reached through my blog. Thanks!

I would LOVE this book! We've purchased many books about food allergies for our kids.(Anaphylaxis to peanuts, treenuts, sesame) and I find them very useful - the kids can totally relate! Actually - I'd love it so much I'm going to buy it right now:) But I'd still love to win a copy. Then I'd donate the one I'm about to buy to the school library and keep the signed one. Great job!!! (email loopy4ewe at rogers dot com)
Thanks!

I would love to win a copy of this! My daughter is anaphylactic and this would be a great resource for her and for classmates in the years to come.

Both my daughter and son have anaphylactic food alergies. It has really changed our eating habits. We don't have nuts, eggs or dairy products and have managed in our own way by using code words like "Special Milk" for Soy. Your book will assist us in helping our kids and their classmates understand the alergy and how to live with it.

This book sounds wonderful! I hope to win a copy for my friend's grandchild, who has life-threatening allergies. I think these kinds of books make people feel less alone, don't you?
