I just returned from dropping my two older boys off at day camp. My 8yo is at Music camp, being introduced to Guitar and Drums. My 5yo is at a day care facility enjoying Art week. I am sure they will both enjoy their time immensely.
So what do I plan to do with my week of days with only a 6 month old? Yesterday I made a list of cleaning and organizing that I want to do. Would you beleive the list was almost a full page of lined paper, and I think of things to add to it often. I know I won't be able to accomplish it all (I keep reminding myself of that anyhow). I am trying not to set myself up to be disappointed. I simply feel overwhelmed by the state of my house and I need to get it organized soon or I think I might lost it. I hope everyone has a great week and I will check in later this week and let you know how I am doing.
Oh yes, and I wrote a post about the Mothercraft Ottawa Touch a Truck event for Kids in the Capital. It will be published in the next few days. Check it out :)

Back in the saddle - sorta
I have been thinking about writing this post all day and the Arrowsmith song "Back in the Saddle" has been playing over and over in my head. I figure I need to write or I will never get that god awful song to go away! :)
Things have been busy around here. Of course school has ended and I have all 3 boys home with me all day long. I have to admit that the week before school ended I got a bit worried I wouldn't be able to manage it. Mostly I was worried that I would bore the crap out of them. True there have been times when they were bored, but we have done a lot of playing, a few park visits and we hit the museum of Nature. So for week 1 we did pretty darn good.
I also picked up a Summer Bridge work book for D and some work books for M. We are doing them every morning (when we have nothing else going on) and so far it is a nice way to pass a bit of time. D had a very rough school year and even though he ended it with a B average I am not convinced he is up to snuff for grade 4. I am hoping by doing this work book over the summer it will at least keep the information fresh in his mind. I don't want him forgetting it all. With the amount of DSi he has played in the last week I am thinking it is a good idea.
D2 has grown by leaps and bounds. I will be taking him for his 6 month appointment on Tuesday and I can't wait to find out how big he has gotten. He has started to sit on his own (assisted) and he is in the painful process of cutting two teeth. Unfortunately the teeth cutting has affected his sleep and is therefor affecting mine. We have had a week of nightly whining and crying sessions. Usually around the 2am mark. I am co-sleeping with D2 so he rarely cries for anything, he just needs to roll over and nudge me and I am there. But these days I can do little to comfort him. Last night I had the fun of having him wake up crying, then his cries woke up the other two boys. Thankfully the older two settled quickly and D2 and I retired to the basement for an hour or So You Think You Can Dance before we headed back to bed at 3am.
This week is a busy one for me. On top of the doctors appointments, a planned visit to the Agriculture Museum and an overnight at my moms house, I will be reading at Blog Out Loud. I was a bit nerveous about leaving D2 behind so I planned a trial run night out (I am so selfless aren't I). I left Kevin at home with D2 while he was still awake, and headed to the movies with a friend. We went to see Eclipse (which I loved, btw, best one so far). Kevin managed to put D2 to bed on his own and he didn't wake up till 11pm which just happened to be when I was walking through the door. So our first attempt at me going out was a success, lets hope this Wednesday is as good. I have to admit that knowing that I can go out without D2. That Kevin can get him to sleep and settle him when he is fussy, really makes me feel good. Less tied to my darling child, and more free. It has only been 6 months but I have barely done anything without him by my side and I think it was time for me to get out on my own. I am glad I did. And I was very happy to come home and have my darling baby there ready to snuggle. It was a great night!
I will attempt to blog more often, every few days is my goal. Lets see how I do. Let me know what you guys have been up to! I will try to visit a few blogs each night and catch up with you all. Take Care!
