Brie over at Capital Mom has started a Monday Moments series. I am looking for something to kick start my blogging and I thought I would take part. This weeks moment is Reading.
Sitting on the couch chatting with my friend J. She is pregnant, due any day now and D2 is 9 months old. While we chat he shuffles himself around on the floor, slow and steady. He pulls himself to standing at my feet and points to a book. His favourite book. "You want me to read to you?" I ask. He grunts.
"Hands, hands, fingers, thumb."
This book has been a favourite for all our boys.
"One thumb, one thumb, drumming on a drum."
I think it is the singsong rhythm of it. It reads in 4 time and to make it more interesting for myself I often tap my feet or drum on my knee while reading it.
"Rings on fingers, Rings on thumb."
I have read it so many times I know it by heart.
"Monkeys hum and monkeys drum"
He points at each page excited to move to the next. We reach the end, he turns to the first page to start again. My friend smiles and we enjoy the moment. All of us.
"Dum ditty dum ditty dum dum dum"
