money is hard

I just paid off a credit card. My work finally approved our raises and I got a lump sum of back pay. Some extra. I wanted to buy a new mattress, I wanted to buy a new fridge. As much as I would have enjoyed those things I would still have debt looming over me. And I find the weight of that debt almost unbearable. We are not out of the woods. We still have more dept to pay off. But I think this is one huge step. One big hurdle. As soon as I get my statement in and can confirm we have 0 balance I am calling the company to cancel the card. I WANT IT GONE. I know they will give me a hard time but I just want it GONE! No more temptation. No more easy money. I still want that mattress and that fridge, but I can wait. Just a bit longer. Money is hard, being adult is hard, knowing that those things I want are just things, is hard. But worth it.

  1. So, so, so hard. And yes worth it. Debt makes me feel out of control.

  2. Congrats on your raise! Hopefully money will be a bit less hard once the debt is gone.

  3. Yeah you! It's so easy to think that the new mattress or fridge to whatever wil make things better. But for me getting ride of another piece of debt makes my stress level drop.

  4. Good for you! I find this is such a hard lesson to learn, and one I fret about all the time in terms of teaching our kids. How do you teach them that it's important to have no debt, to wait for things you want, to work hard for a payoff instead of expecting it instantly? It's a tough one.
